Our breeding ethics
We currently have no plans to breed. Should we decide to breed in the future, we will not have taken the decision lightly.
We will only breed when we wish to have a puppy for ourselves and we feel that the planned litter offers what we consider to be the best combination of pedigrees and qualities.
We will expect anyone who wishes to join our puppy list to visit us, along with all of their family who live at home. We may also ask to visit you at home.
As long standing members of the Alaskan Malamute Club of the UK, we will strictly adhere to the AMCUK Code of Ethics. We are also members of the Kennel Club Assured Breeders Scheme.
All puppies bred will be registered with the UK Kennel Club. Their registrations will be endorsed with "not eligible for the issue of an export pedigree" and "progeny not eligible for registration" which means that they may not be bred from or exported. Endorsements on puppies will not be lifted except under very exceptional circumstances.
Puppies will be reared in our home in a warm, clean and suitable whelping environment and will not leave our home for their new homes until they are at least 8 weeks old. During that 8 weeks we will endeavor to socialise the puppies as much as possible, including with all of our own dogs, and acclimatise them to as many new situations as possible in order to prepare them for their new lives with their new families.
All potential new owners will be very carefully vetted to satisfy us that they can provide the most suitable homes for our puppies. We may ask for references.
All puppies will leave for their new homes with the following:
~A contract, signed by both parties, which describes the conditions of the sale of the puppy, and any requirements that we will ask for in relation to endorsements, spaying / neutering, rehoming etc.
~ Registration paperwork
~ 5 generation pedigree
~ DVD and photographs recording the puppies first few weeks
~ Information regarding feeding, training and exercise
~ Puppy food (BARF) to last the first week
~Suitable toys for puppy
~ Microchip
We will be on hand to give help and support at any time during the entire lifetime of the dog and will be very keen to stay in close contact with new owners throughout.
We will strongly encourage all new owners to become members of the AMCUK.
We will expect all of our puppies to be hip scored and eye tested.
We will expect that puppies sold purely as pets are spayed or neutered at the earliest opportunity as recommended by the owners vet.
We will insist that if the owners can no longer care for the dog at whatever stage of it's life, it will be returned to us, in order that we may either care for it for the rest of it's life, or attempt to rehome it into a suitable new home.
